Summary

Furi helps you learn Japanese from videos. We only collect what the app needs to work and to improve it. We do not sell your data and show no ads.

What we store

  • Account: email, display name and avatar from Google or Apple when you sign in (with Apple you can hide your email).
  • Learning profile: level, daily goal, time zone, the language you study.
  • Learning data: your notebook and review schedule, watch history, study time, and activity (reviews, look-ups, finished videos) used for XP, streaks, quests and achievements.
  • Store: coins, shards, owned items and coin history. Coins are only earned by learning, never bought with money.
  • Difficulty votes you submitted.

Who sees what

  • Anonymous leaderboard: other users only see a fixed stand-in name (e.g. "Learner #4821"), your level, XP, streak and the cosmetics you have equipped (frame, title, badges). They never see your name, avatar, email or country, and there are no public profiles.
  • Your display name, avatar, notebook, watch history, study time, achievements and showcase are visible only to you.
  • The app has no friends, messaging or comments.

Third-party services

  • Supabase: account and data storage (servers outside your country).
  • Google Sign-In / Sign in with Apple: sign-in.
  • Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics (Google): anonymous usage statistics and crash reports (device model, OS version, crash logs).
  • YouTube: videos play in YouTube's embedded player, under YouTube/Google terms and policies.
  • Google Translate: translation of subtitles, example sentences and kanji meanings (app content only, never your data).

Retention and deletion

We keep data while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Delete account: all data tied to it is permanently deleted immediately. Infrastructure backups may keep it for a short period before being overwritten.

Study reminders are on-device notifications and send nothing.

Children

The app is not aimed at children under 13. If you believe a child created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
